Arax Davtian


The renowned singer Arax Davtian received her secondary musical education as a pianist and then continued studies at the R. Melikian Music School as a singer. Graduated from the Yerevan Komitas Conservatory with an assistant professor R. Gulabian.

A. Davtian is a Laureate of the Glinka International Competition. She earned the international acclaim at the “Viotti” International Competition and after that was invited to sing at the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre, where she debuted as Violetta (“La Traviata”). Since 1986 she has performed with the chamber orchestra “Moscow Virtuosi” (conductor: Vladimir Spivakov). Had numerous appearances with many major orchestras (conductors: Riccardo Chailly, Gerd Albrecht, James Conlon, Emyl Chakirov, Peter Klaus Flor, Hans Graf, Yuri Bashmet, Saulus Sondeckis, Constantine Orbelian). Her repertoire embraces a wide range of works by Bach, Mozart, Verdi, Richard Strauss, Stravinsky, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and others. Toured to the USA, Canada, Europe, Japan and other countries.
