Gegham Grigoryan


Gegham Grigoryan, one of the talented soloists of Opera House is celebrating his 52nd anniversary. His contribution in the development of opera art can be measured by the huge amount of successfully and perfectly performed operas, and by incomparably interpreted tenor roles such as those in Verdi's "La forza del distinto", Tchaikovsky's "Mazeppa", "Eugene Onegin" and many others. Today is a special day and we the whole troupe of Opera and Ballet theatre are congratulating our favorite soloist and a perfect man with his remarkable anniversary wishing him long life, strong health and new acknowledgements.

Presently, the Opera Theatre has more than 470 employees. There is an orchestra with 79, corps de ballet with 56, chorus with 60 members, 50 soloists, artistic staff, as well as administrative officers and stage crew.

Opera and Ballet Orchestra and Chorus have great contribution in theatre's success. The orchestra is also very famous for its symphonic concerts held in many countries of the world.

At present the Spendarian Opera and Ballet Theatre is headed by Artistic Director Gegham Grigoryan. Principal Conductor Karen Durgaryan, Principal Director Kamo Hovhannisyan, Principal Choreographer Vilen Galstyan, and Principal Choirmaster Karen Sargsyan.

The theatre presently includes the operas Pagliacci by Leoncavallo, La Traviata and Il Trovatore by Verdi,Tigran The Great by Vivaldi, Carmen by Bizet, Norma by Bellini and the ballets Don Quixote by Minkus, Pavana Maura based on Purcel's music, St. Hripsime and Trdat by Tcheknavorian-Mavisakalyan in its repertoire, besides the others.

In the meantime a new version of the ballet Gayane by Aram Khachaturian has been planned, as well as Tosca by Puccini, The Gueen of Spades by Tchaikovsky, and the concert version of Anoush by Tigranyan.
