Gevorg Mouradian


Gevorg Mouradian began his music studies at the age of 17 and in 1973 he became a graduate of the department of Symphony Conducting at the Komitas Conservatory in Yerevan.

In 1986 he started his post-graduate studies at the Vienna Academy of Music and completed them in 1987.

From 1974 to 1990 he was the conductor of the Armenian Radio and TV Symphonic Orchestra. Here he realized a number of works by Armenian composers and made many recordings. He is a Prizewinner of the 5th All-Union Conductors Competition in Moscow (1983).

In 1991 he was appointed a conductor of the Yerevan Symphonic Orchestra and since 1995 he is the director and conductor of the Philharmonic Choir.

Under Gevorg Mouradian's baton the Choir prepared requiems by Mozart, Verdi, Berlioz, Brahms and Faure; Handel's oratorio "Messiah", Vivaldi's "Gloria", Beethoven's Symphony No.9, Carl Orff's "Carmina Burana" and many vocal pieces by Armenian composers.

Gevorg Mouradian conducts the weekly Concerts of Sacred Music of the APO. He also used to work with the Choirs of St. Gevorg and Holy See of Etchmiadzin.
