Grigor Yeghiazarian

Composer (1908-1988)

He was born in Blur (present Turkey) in 1908, died in Yerevan in 1988.

In 1935 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory, the class of compositions after N. Myaskovski. From 1936 to 1938 he lectured and also was the head of the training section of the Music College in Leninakan. Since 1938 he lived in Yerevan, and gave lessons in the music college and the Yerevan Conservatory, was the head of the class of compositions (since 1959 - a professor).

From 1952 to 1955 he was the chairman of the Armenian Composers’ Union. From 1954 to 1960 - the rector of the Conservatory.
