He was born in Shirak, region in Armenia - the galaxy of Armenian poets and musicians. Being a student of the Yerevan Conservatory, the class for composition after G. Yeghiazarian, he won the gold medal in the International competition of popular instruments in Berlin in 1951, where more than 40 countries had their participation. Then he continued his study under the leadership of the composer E. Mirzoian. He took participation in Ten-day Festival of Music in Moscow together with his ensemble of canonists.
Being the leader of the Ensemble of folk dances he has toured to more than 30 countries in the world with his ensemble and everywhere had a great triumph. He created the method of playing canon founded in 1968, and also the Anthology of Dance-Music. He died in 1996 in Yerevan.
