Sheram Composer
Gusan Sheram (real name and surname is Grigor Talian) was born in Alexandropol (present Gyumri) in 1857, died in Yerevan in 1938.
He is the founder of the modern gusan art. He renounced to follow the obsolete canonical rules of prosody typical to ashugh creative works, as they banned the freedom of artistic expression. Inheriting the best traditions of the Armenian ashugh art, he, at the same time, based on the richness of the Armenian popular collection of songs. He created bright poetic texts and soul melodies. Being a master of lyric miniature, he mainly created love-lyrical songs and also nature-describing songs.
In 1915 he wrote patriotic songs:
“Call of Andranik”
“We are brothers”
From 1915 until 1935 he created melodies that are performed up to date
“I beg you, mountains…”
“She is graceful…”
“I have nothing from you”
“Roses have blossomed in the garden”
“Dance with waddling”
“You are my muse”
“Undefeated fairy”
The works by gusan Sheram were published in 1959.
